Sri Lanka Emergency Medical Aid

The current economic crisis in Sri Lanka has left many healthcare facilities struggling to maintain adequate supplies of life saving medications and consumables. OC Lions is partnering with doctors in Sri Lanka to provide much needed medical supplies to those in need.

Completed Projects:
Anti-seizure Medications for Pediatric Patients – Partnered with The College of Pediatricians 
  Funds Used: $3,000
  Supplies 
Procured:  10,440 Levetiracetam 500mg tablets and 10,440 Levetiracetam 250mg tablets
  Hospital: Lady Ridgeway Hospital  

Reagents for Measuring Blood Oxygenation Levels in Pediatric Patients- Partnered with The College of Pediatricians
  Funds Used: $1,400
  Supplies 
Procured: Blood gas consumables
  Hospital: District General Hospital, Vavuniya

Insulin for Pregnant Patients with Gestational Diabetes – Partnered with The College of Endocrinologists
  Funds Used: $3,000
  Supplies 
Procured:  750 Humulin N cartridges and 100 insulin pens
  Hospitals: Anuradhapura, Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Gampaha, National Hospital of Sri Lanka and Negombo hospitals.

Surgical Equipment for Trauma Patients – Teaching Hospital, Kalutara 
  Funds Used: $7,500
  Supplies Procured:  300 bone screws, 40 packs of antibiotic bone cement, 110 surgical wires
  Hospital: Kalutara Teaching Hospital

Bupivacaine Anesthetic for Surgeries – Department of Anesthesia/Operating Theatre at University Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya 
  Funds Used: $3,100
  Supplies Procured:  1375 vials of Bupivacaine
  Hospital: University Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya

OCLF is continuing to raise funds for further medical and non-medical aid as the crisis in Sri Lanka persists. Donations will be used purchase the necessary medicines directly from suppliers, which will then be transferred to the hospitals. This ensures that donations are being used solely for purchasing medical supplies. No matter how small, every donation counts towards a life made better.
