Renewable Energy to Prithipura Communities

The OC Lions Foundation has successfully completed the installation of a 30 KW solar power system at Prithipura Communities in Handala, Wattala, Sri Lanka at a cost of $ 25,000. Prithipura Communities is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a home for some of the most vulnerable individuals in Sri Lanka, those with disabilities who have little or no family support.

The OC Lions Foundation has been assisting Prithipura Communities in various ways over the years. These efforts have included funding meals for one month each year and supporting small infrastructure improvement projects. The solar power project marks the first large-scale initiative where the OC Lions Foundation served as both the funding and project administration agency.

This initiative is expected to have a significant impact by reducing the unaffordable electricity expenses that have been a major burden on the operational budget of the facility. By cutting down energy costs, Prithipura Communities can redirect savings to enhance care and services for its residents.

The OC Lions Foundation is proud to contribute to sustainable development and renewable energy solutions while supporting vulnerable communities. This project reflects our commitment to making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
