OCLF Completed the Child Friendly Shelter Project at Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya

OC Lions Foundation funded and coordinated construction and commissioned a child friendly shelter for the speech therapy and occupational therapy activities, a much-needed space for this facility.


Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya is the main service center which provides child and Adolescent Psychiatric services to the Southern Province. More than 3,500 children per year are being treated at this facility with ongoing support and follow up.


Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. Darshani Hettiarchchi commented, “We are glade to inform you that with your kind donation we have been able to build up a child friendly shelter for our speech therapist and occupational therapist to conduct their sessions with minimum disruptions. We believe that your contribution would help the thousands of children in the southern province with special child psychiatric needs in the future.”
